Empowering Women. Strengthening Families. Uniting Communities.

OUR STORY

The North Lanarkshire Muslim Women and Family Alliance was established in 1994 and now have over 200 members. NLMWA has been a cornerstone of community support and development for over 30 years, providing essential services such as education, mental health and well-being support, employability programs, and cultural integration initiatives.

Throughout our history, we have focused on addressing the needs of those who are often overlooked, including ethnic minorities, refugees, women, youth, children, and the wider community. Our services are designed to empower these groups, promoting equality, social justice, and community cohesion.

Before NLMWA, I felt so isolated. Now I attend weekly sessions, have made friends, and even started volunteering. It’s changed my life.

I’ve learned new skills, improved my English, and my confidence has grown so much. The support here is amazing.
Fatima

As a young person, I didn’t know where I fit in. NLMWA gave me my first leadership experience through the youth programme. Now I want to mentor others too.
