Why a permanent space matters
NLMWA has served North Lanarkshire for over thirty years without a building of our own. Every class, every session and every event depends on borrowed or hired space.
A permanent, accessible hub would let us run childcare, a community café, training rooms and hall hire — supporting the community and generating income so the charity is less dependent on short-term grants.
Where we are
- Our first Community Asset Transfer application was rejected
- We pursued the Ministerial Appeal Process and continue to advocate
- Progress has been slow, and the lack of a space limits what we can deliver
- We keep engaging with stakeholders and decision-makers to move it forward
