North Lanarkshire Muslim Women & Family Alliance

Digital inclusion and skills

From never having touched a computer to writing and publishing together.

Running now & completed

Getting women online, in their own language

Many of the women we work with faced two barriers at once: language and technology. Our digital sessions tackle both together, in a room where nobody is embarrassed to start from zero.

Empowering Elderly Women with Digital Technology

Delivered with Age Scotland and WSREC. Twenty sessions. Twelve women who had never used a computer or smartphone finished able to use them with confidence.

The Wee Grant — capacity building

Funded by The Robertson Trust and still running weekly: English language confidence, digital literacy and the skills to take part in community life. Twelve women supported so far.

What the women made

Rather than end with a certificate, members used their new skills to produce a community recipe book and a collection of short stories — their own words, typed, edited and published by themselves.
