What we did
Members of NLMWA raised the money themselves and installed a community bench in Cambusnethan Cemetery, after asking the people who visit what would actually help.
It is a small thing that does a large amount of work. Older visitors, and anyone who cannot stand for long, now have somewhere to rest and sit quietly. The consultation mattered as much as the bench: we asked first, then built.
Why it matters
- A peaceful, accessible space that supports emotional wellbeing
- Especially useful for elderly members of the community
- Funded entirely by member contributions — no grant behind it
- A visible sign of what members can do when they act together
